Description
These beautiful white irises bloom at the end of June and early July, about a month after the more well-known bearded irises. I don't know the variety, but the flowers are delightful and sadly last such a short time. This iris was visited by a cabbage butterfly, who kindly stayed on the flower long enough for me to get some good shots, even though it was a windy day.
The cabbage butterfy catarpillar does heavy damage to vegetables, not surprisingly cabbage family members in particular. But we no longer grow vegetables and this butterfly was a welcome visitor to our garden.
Processed in Photoshop with Nik Color Efex 4 and several textures.
