Description
Witch hazel flowers are often the first to bloom in our yard, sometimes as early as February. My image "Frosted Witch Hazel Blossoms' was taken February 6, 2016 (almost 2 years ago today) because we had a fairly mild December and January. These flowers were actually shot the same day I took the "Shy Couple" daffodil photo - April 16, 2015, because the winter of 2015 was one of our most brutal in recent memory.
This started out as a minimalist image focusing on the branches, but I was in a bit of a blue mood and I kept adding more and more colorful textures until I got this result. I added a touch of Topaz Impression to soften the textures a bit, but not enough to alter the wild look that I wanted.
