In these challenging times, I think it's so important to focus on the positive things in our lives, and the time that we can spend with those most precious to us, even if it is only through technology and not in person. And with spring around the corner in the Northern Hemisphere, the beauty of nature cannot and will not be closed or shut down, and it is there for us to appreciate and enjoy.
When I created this work many years ago, I dedicated it to our now-departed Siamese cat, Jazzbeaux, who, even through a long illness, always had a positive outlook and braved the challenges he faced with a courage that was so very inspiring. And we treasured every moment we had with him, never knowing which would be our last.
I hope that the courage that so inspired us then can inspire all of you to treasure every moment during these very difficult, stressful times.
I have enjoyed photographing nature since I first learned to use a camera more advanced than my childhood Instamatic! When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards.
