Description
The daylily is such a special flower - so beautiful, vibrant, and full of life, but only for one day. Daylilies are one of my favorite flowers, and the Little Grapette is particularly special for it's small size and lovely purple color. This summer our one Little Grapette plant has been very prolific - that has not been the case in the past few years. Maybe the extra rain we had this spirng gave the plant a nice boost.
Daylilies are not technically lilies, they belong to the genus Hemerocallis. From Wikipedia:
"A normal, single daylily flower has three petals and three sepals, collectively called tepals, each with a midrib in either the same basic color or a different color. The centermost part of the flower, called the throat, usually is of a different color than the more distal areas of the tepals. Each flower usually has six stamens, each with a two-lobed anther."
Processed in Photoshop with Topaz Studio, Impression, and textures.
