Artist's Description

I love baby leaves, and our Siebold Viburnum is the first to give us these charming baby leaves as a sign of spring. The Siebold Viburnum is actually a shrub, but it can be trained as a tree, which is what we did when we planted it back in 1990. It replaced a beloved dogwood that just wasn't hardy enough for our our yard. (It will grow in more sheltered places here in northern Massachusetts.) It has weathered many a nasty winter, but it's still with us and it happily dominates our front yard.

Processed in Photoshop with Topaz Impression and two textures.

Nikon P7800 in macro mode.

Featured in the following FAA group:

Art and Meditation - 6/26/2020

About Anita Pollak

When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards. I love photographing flowers, and many of my flower photos were taken in our yard or at three very special botanical gardens in New England: Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston,...
