We have a small chokeberry tree in our front yard that has lovely, delicate flowers in the spring and rich red berries in the fall. I shot these branches when the flower buds were just starting to come out and the leaves framed them so beautifully.

I wanted an abstract, minimalist look so I went for a high-key look to make the background white, and then processed it in Topaz Studio to get the abstract effect.

I have enjoyed photographing nature since I first learned to use a camera more advanced than my childhood Instamatic! When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards.
