We recently returned to the the Beautiful Thuya Garden in Northeast Harbor, Maine and the dahlias were as lovely as they were last September. We were lucky to get an overcast day so we didn't have to deal with harsh midday sunlight. This beauty is called "Jane," an incurved cactus dahlia, and clearly she is no Plain Jane!

I have enjoyed photographing nature since I first learned to use a camera more advanced than my childhood Instamatic! When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards.
