On this chilly, winterlike day it warms my heart to look back at images from this past summer. This gorgeous daylily is called "Janice Brown" and this radiant beauty seems to be glowing from within.
The daylily is such a special flower - so beautiful, vibrant, and full of life, but only for one day. I think the ephemeral quality of these lovely blossoms is one of the reasons I love them so much and always want to take the time to enjoy them while we have them. Many daylilies also fade quickly in hot weather, so it's best to photograph them in the morning, something I find challenging but well worth the effort

I have enjoyed photographing nature since I first learned to use a camera more advanced than my childhood Instamatic! When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards.
